Overheard: I don't want anything free

Still thinking about the following conversation, overheard while voting.
Voter Volunteer: Don't you want a "I Voted" sticker? You can get free things in town.
Voter: No. I don't want anything free. There are too many people without jobs.

November brings cold, snow, and missing leaves

A few snaps from the past months. B on a bench in town and fishing with Pop. E by the wagon train. The two all dressed up for Halloween. Hiking in Adams Gulch and hiking up to Baker Lake. Then there's E with his second missing tooth. View the full post (click on the title) to see all the snaps then click on the far right image to see a slide show.

Fishy fertilizer

Two weeks ago the local park grounds crew applied what we guess to be fertilizer to the grass. Elias disliked the smell, which wafted to our home, to no end and wrote a note which he posted on our front door. The note, see the scanned image (also attached to this post, faintly in the lower right corner), reads "i DOO NOT LiCKVERDLiSR BCUS iT SMELS LiCK FiSH." He wrote the note all by himself.

E heads out on his first backpack

Elias went out for a one-night backpack this week with his Nana, Pop, the dog Elsa, and his cousin. They hiked in, oh, a short distance, before setting up camp and eating. They came out the next morning, all smiles, apparently. The red pack, rented from a local shop, was taken back for the slightly smaller blue pack. Even that one did not fit so well because the hip belt had little padding (and his hips have little padding, contours).
